Majorca monasteries are surprisingly plentiful and some will provide accommodation. As you would expect, the accommodation in the monasteries is rather basic but the prices are cheap. If fact they are so popular in the high season that it's sometimes hard to find a room.

Monestir de Lluc

The Monestir de Lluc is situated in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, around 500m above sea level. It has 129 rooms or cells as they are known. Lluc also offers apartments with 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom.

Monastery - Santuari de Cura

Santuari de Cura - Randa Monastery

The Monastery in Randa was built high on Randa mountain and has 360 degree views over the surroundings of Randa, in the middle of the plains of Majorca. The monastery offers apartments to stay in which consist of bedroom, bathroom and small lounge/kitchen.

Monastery near Felanitx - Santuari De Sant Salvador

Santuari de Sant Salvador - Monastery near Felanitx

This monastery is over 500m above sea level and offers views over much of the island. As well as accommodation the monastery offers a bar and cafe.

Santuario del Puig de Maria

This monastery was built in 1371 and is south of Pollensa at a height of over 330m above sea level. A road will take you up two thirds of the way but the rest is on foot or by donkey! Currently run by nuns, there is accommodation available for a smaal charge.

La Cartuja

Also known as The Royal Carthusian Monastery of Jesus of Nazareth is situated in Valldemossa and is one of Majorca's major sightseeing attractions.

Santuari de Monti-sion

This monastery sits on a hill just outside Porreres which is around 30km east of Palma. It does offer accommodation but only to groups who have pre-booked.
